Charges of murder against an elderly couple arrested
in connection with the deaths of five children in Msinga were withdrawn at
the Uthukela Magistrate's Court due to circumstantial evidence. However,
the community members are still adamant that the couple are guilty.
"The IFP urges the Msinga community to respect
the verdict of the independent court," said Lindiwe Mbuyazi, MMP, who
chairs the IFP Women's Caucus at KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Parliament.
"We urge the community to uphold the law."
Mrs Mbuyazi also said:
"Taking the law into an individual's hands is
no substitute for justice. Self-serving justice has no place in a
society that provides for an independent judiciary. The IFP stands for
the rule of law. No conditions or exceptions apply."
