 THE INKATHA FREEDOM PARTY


STATEMENT ISSUED AT THE MEETING OF THE IFP LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

Durban: 2 August 2004

Today, a summit of the national leadership of the IFP, elected at the Annual General Conference last weekend, together with the National Chairpersons of the Women's and Youth Brigades met in Durban to attend to the task of taking the business of the IFP forward.

The meeting was attended by the Party President, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, the Secretary-General, Rev Musa Zondi, the National Chairperson, Dr Ziba Jiyane, the Deputy Secretary-General, Prof Themba Msimang and the Deputy National Chairperson, Mr Stanley Dladla and the Administrative Secretary Mr MZ Khumalo.

In drawing up the programme of action the meeting prioritised renewal and regeneration of the Party as the main focus. The meeting also emphasised unity in all party structures, especially in the top leadership and management echelons of the Party and refuted media statements which spread unfounded rumours of divisions amongst the newly elected top leadership.
