A CONFERENCE FOR THE 21ST CENTURY:

Durban: July 3rd , 2001

The IFP Annual General Conference 2001: Friday 6th July -Sunday 8th July

The National Organisor of the IFP, Mr Albert Mncwango MP has announced that the theme of the 2001 IFP Conference will be:

'Governing with Integrity for Development'.

The conference will have a fresh format and a new approach to reflect and respond to the challenges that the IFP faces in the new century.

In particular, the Conference will consider how the Party can govern and adhere to the highest standards in public life.

The Conference will be held at the Emandleni / Matleng Youth Training Centre in Ulundi between Friday 6th July and Sunday 8th July.

After the registration of delegates on Friday morning, there will be a special plenary session in the main hall:

'Accounting on Governance,'

that will lay the parameters of responsibility and accountability of all those elected to accelerate service delivery to the general public.

In this session at 15.00hrs, to which the media are cordially invited, senior office bearers of the Party, Cabinet ministers, Provincial ministers and Councillors will give a report of their departments activities and delegates will have an opportunity to ask them questions. After this, Councillors will sign a Probity and Service pledge, committing them to adhere to the highest standards in public life and to implement the IFP Charter for Development (and will provide excellent photo opportunities!)

On the Saturday morning, the Party President, Prince M.G. Buthelezi will make his keynote address, charting how the Party can govern effectively with integrity and outlining the direction of the IFP.

The Party National Chairman will also give his addresses on Saturday morning.

In the afternoon and evening sessions, delegates will be divided between ten workshops and will deliberate on identified topics that are relevant to governing with integrity.

The deliberations of these topics will be used to formulate the Party's resolutions that will be presented to the Conference on the Sunday morning.

The nature of this Conference reflects the IFP commitment to governing with the highest standards in public life and will be of landmark importance as the Party approaches the halfway mark before the 2004 election.
