STATEMENT BY:
MS PATRICIA LEBENYA MP
ACTING NATIONAL CHAIR OF THE IFP YOUTH BRIGADE
3 July 2007
"Important
issues of relevance to South Africa's youth are on the agenda
this week, at the Inkatha Freedom Party five-day winter camp,
currently taking place in KwaZulu-Natal," said Ms Patricia
Lebenya MP, the Acting National Chair of the IFP Youth Brigade.
"Inkatha
Freedom Party Youth brigade leaders from the National Executive
Committee and district leaders from all provinces are currently
attending the IFP winter camp," said Ms Lebenya.
"The main
role of the camp is to resurrect the role of the Youth Brigade
as the frontline of the IFP. Furthermore the Youth Brigade aims
to be at the forefront of an IFP victory in the 2009 election.
"The IFP
youth leaders have acknowledged that the youth is the foundation
and future of the IFP. Young people here have expressed their
contentment with having a say in all party structures.
Furthermore, the young people at the camp feel that the IFP is
the only party who recognises issues that affect South Africa's
young people.
"We are
therefore determined to go all out to recruit more young people
to the IFP, because the IFP is the only political party that has
been consistent in making concrete proposals on how youth
development should be approached in South Africa.
"The youth
brigade leadership also wishes to commend all IFP run
municipalities who have already started making a difference by
establishing youth desks and youth forums in their areas.
"This,
without a doubt, shows how committed the IFP is to youth
development and youth issues in South Africa. The IFP believes
in talking less and doing more," concluded Ms Lebenya.
