Inkatha Freedom Party Statement By:
MR ERIC
LUCAS MP
IFP SPOKESPERSON ON MINERALS AND ENERGY
3rd August, 2007
The Inkatha
Freedom Party is extremely concerned about the current strike in
the liquid fuels industry, which could see pumps across the
country running dry over the weekend and possibly crippling fuel
stations and leaving motorists stranded.
The IFP
urges all role players - the Chemical, Energy, Paper, Printing,
Wood and Allied Workers Union (Ceppwawu) and National Petroleum
Employers' Association (NPEA) - which represents Sasol Synfuels,
Natref, BP, Shell, PetroSA, Chevron, Total, Engen and Sapref, to
reach an agreement as soon as possible.
Also, this
strike once again negatively affects the public, who already pay
extremely high prices for fuel, so an urgent solution is
non-negotiable.
