IFP raises concern regarding number of
toddlers left in cars
MEDIA STATEMENT ISSUED BY:
MR ERIC LUCAS MP
IFP PARLIAMENTARY CAUCUS CHAIRPERSON
February 5, 2007
IThe IFP Parliamentary Caucus chairman, Mr Eric Lucas today
expressed concern regarding the number of infants being left in
heat exposed motor vehicles.
He said:
"The IFP notes with real concern the number of infants being
left or forgotten in heat exposed vehicles by their parents or
guardians. We sympathise with the parents and guardians of these
children, but would like to stress the importance and urgency to
people that taking responsible care for their children should be
a first and foremost priority."
"The IFP believes the police should take a sterner stance on
these acts of negligence by the parents and guardians, so that
it brings home the importance of putting the welfare of the
child first. We would also like to call on the public and
parking attendants to be more vigilant and to take immediate
action when witnessing these acts of negligence."
