The Acting
Chairperson of the IFP Youth Brigade, Mrs. Pat Lebenya-Ntanzi,
today invited members of the media to attend the official
celebration of the 30th birthday of the Youth Brigade. The event
will take place on Monday, 11th February 2008 at the Chapel
Hall, University of Zululand, in KwaZulu-Natal at 14h00.
The main
speaker will be the Chairperson Emeritus of the Youth Brigade,
Rev Musa Zondi. All other (living) former Chairpersons of the
Brigade will also feature on the programme of the day.
Pat said:
"We are
excited to have this event, especially following the launch of
the IFP's values; solidarity, freedom and unity in diversity, at
the Durban City Hall on the 23rd January 2008. The IFP Youth
Brigade is determined to do its part in championing these values
and we will do all we can to live them out in a real and
meaningful way."
"On the 11th
February 30 years ago the IFP Youth Brigade was born. The
Brigade has not only survived some of the fiercest onslaughts by
both the apartheid regime as well as its detractors; national
and international, but it has used that very same fire to help
it to political maturity."
"Unlike
other political youth organisations the IFP Youth Brigade does
not believe in petulant, toy-throwing childish antics to get its
own way but instead is very conscious of the responsibility it
has in ensuring that the South Africa of tomorrow is an
ubuntu-driven society where there is freedom, safety and dignity
for all. In order to achieve this aim we are aware that there is
a lot of work to do now and we are ready for that challenge."
"We meet in
the midst of a political climate in South Africa which is
screaming out for leadership. The IFP has it in its President,
Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi and other members of its Executive.
And South Africa certainly has it in the IFP Youth Brigade."
