PARLIAMENT NEEDS TO IMPROVE ADMINISTRATION
EFFICIENCY
June 6, 2006
STATEMENT BY MRS. SYBIL SEATON -
IFP, DEPUTY CHIEF WHIP PARLIAMENTARY CAUCUS
The IFP's Deputy Chief Whip, Mrs. Sybil Seaton, today in
National Assembly strongly chastised Parliament about the lack
of administration efficiency and poor housing developments for
Members.
Mrs. Seaton said;
"Members were told that the position of Chief Financial Officer
would be filled by 30 May at the latest - as yet, the CFO
position is still vacant. This is a blatant demonstration
of the apathetic attitude throughout Parliament. In the same
vein, because of the extreme workload of Whips and Members, we
have been requesting for a number of years the assistance of
Secretaries or Personal Assistants - as yet, not one Secretary
has been employed or even equipment bought that would assist
Members and Whips to do their work more effectively."
Further, Mrs. Seaton attacked the issue of Member's housing
facilities. She said: "Members are living in the most
dilapidated houses. The three Parliamentary Villages are not
burglar-guarded and the furniture and fitting of the houses are
old and unsightly."
