IFP Rejects Speculation About Party Deputy President

6 October 2007

The IFP has noted with interest the media speculation about a so-called call by the IFP Youth Brigade for the constitutionally-entrenched position of IFP Deputy President.

"The IFP and the IFP Youth Brigade, whom the speculations concern in particular, reject them as utterly baseless and as an effort by the party's detractors to divert our attention from the goal of fighting and winning the 2009 general election," said IFP National Chairperson Zanele Magwaza-Msibi.

The IFP views the speculations in question as part of the strategy alive in certain quarters of the provincial mass media to deflect the party's attention from the pertinent issues ahead of its 2007 Annual General Conference scheduled for 12-14 October 2007 in Ulundi.
