The Inkatha Freedom Party's Portfolio
Committee Chairperson on Youth Affairs today expressed his full
support for Inkosi K Mathaba and the Macambi clan against the
forced removal of their people, to make way for the ANC-led
RUWAAD project.
"What type of development project forces
people off their land? The IFP believes in people-centred
development that places the needs of people above the needs of
politicians," said Thulasizwe Buthelezi, the IFP's National
Council Porfolio Committee Chairperson on Youth Affairs.
"As responsible leaders, we stand by the
people of Macambi. The Macambi land is not owned by big
business, neither is it owned by government. Therefore the KZN
Premier Sbu Ndebele and his people must honour and respect the
wishes of the Macambini community by withdrawing the proposed
RUWAAD project," said Buthelezi.
"We also urge Premier Ndebele and his cadres
to stop abusing the name of His Majesty the King when advocating
for the forced removal of the Macambini clan," added Buthelezi.
"Furthermore, we would also like to appeal to
the ANCYL to stop meddling in matters that are beyond their
understanding," concluded Buthelezi.
