In a motion tabled in the National Assembly today, Mr Velaphi Ndlovu MP,
IFP Spokesperson on Safety and Security, has congratulated the
Anti-Corruption Unit of the SAPS for stepping up their action against
police corruption over the past three years.
Mr Ndlovu welcomed figures from the Centre for the Study of Violence and
Reconciliation which indicated that investigations into police
corruption by the Anti-Corruption Unit had more than doubled over the
past three years.
Mr Ndlovu said:
"I congratulate the Anti-Corruption Unit for
significantly stepping up its efforts to stamp out corruption in our
police force. I encourage them to continue to increase their efforts
until all corrupt members of SAPS are rooted out. I urge the courts to
hand down the harshest sentences available for those corrupt officers
who betray the trust that the public have placed in them."
