MEDIA STATEMENT RELEASED BY:
MRS PATRICIA LEBENYA MP
ACTING NATIONAL CHAIR OF THE IFP YOUTH BRIGADE

May 10, 2007

The Inkatha Freedom Party's acting National Chairperson of the IFP Youth Brigade, Mrs Patricia Lebenya, today sent condolences to the family of Lindiwe Chibi, who died in Soweto on Wednesday.

"The Inkatha Freedom Party is saddened by the news of the death of one of South Africa's most popular actresses, Lindiwe Chibi, better known for her role as Doobsie from Muvango," said Mrs Lebenya.

"Her death is a loss to South Africa and to the entertainment industry at large. She defied the odds when she survived a gunshot at close range, which showed that she was a strong and admirable character.

"The IFP would like to convey our most heartfelt condolences to the family of Lindiwe Chibi. We wish her relatives and friends all the best during this very difficult time," concluded Mrs Lebenya.
