The IFP Women’s Brigade elected its new
chairperson Thembi Nzuza to replace the organisation’s caretaker
leader Abbie Mchunu MP during an annual conference in Ulundi.
The IFPWB’s new Chairperson was elected uncontested.
“We are thrilled by our women’s democratic
choice and we congratulate Thembi on her new position and the
responsibilities it carries. Thembi Nzuza is a selfless
individual who can be relied on to pursue the IFPWB’s agenda
with utmost dedication and professionalism. We have elected the
right person for the job,” said IFPWB’s Acting Chairperson Abbie
Mchunu MP.
The IFPWB is looking forward to being led by
Thembi Nzuza as the new leader faces the task of implementing
the conference’s action-packed resolutions that focus on women’s
role in eradicating poverty and fighting HIV/Aids, crime and
corruption.
“The conference has provided the IFPWB and the
IFP at large with intellectual ammunition to fight the 2009
election on the strength of our resolve to address rural and
urban hardships, structural unemployment and erosion of cultural
and family values,” said Thembi Nzuza.
Traditionally, the IFPWB sees women as the
bedrock of South Africa’s family life. “We are determined to
draw on our inner strength to revive many of the values that
have been eroded by the rapid social changes which have, in
recent years, brought relative economic stability, but often at
the expense of moral decay,” said Thembi Nzuza.
Councillor Thembi Nzuza leads the IFP in
eThekwini Metro and serves on the council’s Executive Committee.
