IFP Deputy-Secretary General,
Professor Christian T Msimang today called on government to do
everything in its power to put an end to the strike.
Speaking on behalf of the National Executive of the IFP Prof.
Msimang said:
"The IFP urges the government to respond positively to public
workers demands and end the protracted strike. We believe that
salary increases should be based on merit where qualification,
dedication and experience are taken into account. The IFP
believes that public workers demands are justifiable in the face
of the spiralling cost of living and poor working conditions."
He concluded:
"The IFP however deplores the participation of workers from
essential services in this strike, especially nurses and
teachers, since that violates the rights of patients and pupils
respectfully and we condemn their conduct as being legally and
morally unjustifiable."
