The IFP Spokesperson for Safety and Security Mr
Velaphi Ndlovu, MP, congratulated the police in KZN for the 294
"priority crime" arrests made after a weeklong intensive
campaign.
Mr. Ndlovu said:
"The IFP is aware of the shocking conditions
that members of the police force are often faced with. Battling against
increasing brutality in crime, in which police themselves often have to
pay with their lives, this amazing feat must be lauded. The IFP
encourages the police to participate in more and more of these targeted
campaigns to rout out crime in our communities."
Responding to the increase in the number of brutal
rape cases Mr. Ndlovu said:
"This cycle of violence must be broken now.
We must find ways to deal with this cowardly crime otherwise we will be
taking away from the very fabric of our freedom that took us so long to
attain. We cannot afford to be silent.
We must speak out loudly and clearly against rape.
