IFP Mourns "Exemplary MP" S'bu Ngidi
April 13, 2007
The IFP President, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, has been joined
by the Leader of the Official Opposition in KwaZulu Natal, Dr
Lionel Mtshali, the IFP National Chairperson, Zanele Magwaza and
the rest of the party leadership in extending the IFP's
heartfelt condolences to Mr Ngidi's family, friends and
colleagues.
"S'bu Ngidi's passing away after a long and difficult illness
has dealt a tremendous blow to the IFP as a parliamentary party
in the KwaZulu Natal Provincial Parliament, where Mr Ngidi
served with distinction,"
said IFP provincial spokesperson Blessed Gwala.
Gwala also said:
"S'bu Ngidi's contribution to the party's performance in the
Legislature as spokesperson on education was immense. As a
former teacher and school principal, S'bu had a unique insight
into the complexities of teaching and learning in the province's
educational institutions.
"Our schools, particularly in rural areas, occupied an important
place in S'bu heart. I recall a particular incident last year
during a parliamentary session at Hluzingqondo Primary School on
the South Coast where S'bu offered to privately cover the cost
of refurbishment of the school's premises.
"S'bu's exemplary dedication and utter commitment will never be
forgotten by his party or the people of KwaZulu Natal whom he
served so selflessly. He was a truly exemplary Member of
Parliament with a professional as well as a human touch and
understanding."
