16th April 2008
The IFP
Secretary-General, Rev. Musa Zondi, today announced that the IFP
will be holding a major event in Johannesburg as part of its
"national listening campaign," which is aimed at developing a
just, prosperous and moral society, whose citizens engage with
each other on the basis of ubuntu.
The event
will be held at the Johannesburg City Hall (cnr. of President
and Harrison Streets) on Wednesday, 23rd April 2008 and will
begin at 18h00 in the evening. It is scheduled to end at 20h00.
The top
leadership of the IFP, including its President - Prince
Mangosuthu Buthelezi, its National Chairperson - Mrs. Zanele
Magwaza-Msibi, Secretary-General - Rev. Musa Zondi to Members of
the National Council as well as IFP Gauteng leadership will all
be present in order to personally listen and take up the
concerns of the people of Gauteng.
Rev. Zondi
said:
"As many of
you will remember this process began at the historic launch of
the IFP's values, draft policy process and the IFP Story at the
Durban City Hall on the 23rd January 2008. This process began
with local based policy unit meetings in KwaZulu-Natal, which
are beginning to gain momentum. A forward planning note of these
events will be sent to the media in the near future."
"The 23rd
April event is intended to premier the listening campaign in
Gauteng," Rev. Zondi said.
"We are not
going to Gauteng to deliver long speeches to tell people what we
think about the current situation in South Africa. Rather, we
are going to Gauteng to listen to what the people of Gauteng
have to say about their concerns and dreams for themselves and
for South Africa. Because the IFP places an extremely high value
on what people have to say, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi himself
will lead the IFP listening delegation on the 23rd April 2008 in
Gauteng," Rev. Zondi explained.
"Once we
have heard from the people of South Africa the IFP will hold a
special Policy Conference later in the year to consolidate all
that we have heard and turn it into concrete policy positions,
which we hope South Africa will chose to live by," said Rev.
Zondi.
Rev. Zondi
pointed out; "The IFP believes that working together with the
people of South Africa we can fix what is wrong in our country
and make it a much better and safer place in which to live."
Rev. Zondi
concluded by inviting all members of the public to participate
in the meeting; "Come and join us and make your voice heard," he
said.
All members
of the media are invited to attend.
