The IFP's Provincial Spokesperson, Mr
Velaphi B. Ndlovu, today announced that Inkosi Mhlabunzima
Wellington Hlengwa, passed away in his sleep on Tuesday night at
the age of 60 at his home in Thoyana, Ifumi Village near Umzinto
in the South Coast.
Mr Ndlovu said:
"Inkosi Hlengwa was a loyal,
committed and senior member of the IFP. He was a member of
National Parliament from 1994 and since 2004 has been a member
of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, where he served as the
deputy-speaker. Inkosi Hlengwa was passionately involved in all
aspects of community development, with particular emphasis on
the management of the consequences of the HIV/AIDS in the
community."
"Inkosi Hlengwa will be deeply missed
for his deep sense of compassion, his quiet sense of humour and
his commitment to fair play and justice in whichever situation
he found himself."
"The IFP sends its deepest
condolences to the family of Inkosi Hlengwa. We pray that God
will comfort them in this time of grief and mourning. We hope
that they will draw comfort in the knowledge that Inkosi Hlengwa
died as he lived; as a man of peace. "
