In an interview on a View from the House
on SABC 2 this morning, IFP Chief Whip Koos van der Merwe
commented on recent calls from some sections of the Inkatha
Freedom Party Youth Brigade (IFPYB) for a change in the party's
leadership.
"I want to make it clear that there have
never been any calls from members of the party for the removal
of our party President, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi. I however
did comment on calls from some sections of the youth brigade for
the wholesale change of the party leadership but those calls
were never targeted at one specific individual," said Koos van
der Merwe MP.
Van der Merwe said that the all sections
of the IFP remains fully committed to the current leadership and
to party President, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
"The IFPYB has since unreservedly
apologised for the comments that were attributed to them in the
media and the party as a whole remain fully committed to the
current IFP leadership," concluded van der Merwe.
