IFP Youth Wants Buthelezi to Lead Beyond 2009

Inkatha Freedom Party Statement By:
MS PATRICIA LEBENYA MP
ACTING NATIONAL CHAIR OF THE IFP YOUTH BRIGADE

17 October 2007

The Inkatha Freedom Party Youth Brigade would like state that even though our President, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, announced at the 32nd Annual General Conference that he plans to retire in 2009, we, the youth of this party still idealise him as a dynamic, dedicated leader fit to lead the IFP beyond 2009.
In terms of the IFP Constitution, our next elective conference will only take place in 2009, and then the party will have to decide who they want as their leader.

The Inkatha Freedom Party Youth Brigade is optimistically hopeful that Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi would make himself available to lead the party once again, but that is of course entirely up to him and we will respect whatever decision he makes in this regard.

We've got the greatest respect for our leader and we trust that whatever decision he makes in 2009 will be in the best interest of the party, as he has always placed the IFP's needs first.
