The IFP has noted with interest the concerns of some delegates to the 2007 ANC conference in Polokwane about the electronic ballot counting.
"The IFP has, for many years, been expressing concerns about the reliability of electronic voting. Our concerns have been consistently met with assurances from the ruling party that this system is totally reliable," said IFP National Chairperson Zanele KaMagwaza-Msibi.
The IFP sincerely hopes that the reluctance of some delegates to the Polokwane conference to use electronic ballot counting is not a tacit admission that this system is riddled with difficulties.
"We hope that the ANC delegates are not rejecting the system as potentially unreliable only because their own future hangs on it while they continue to advocate it when other political parties express concerns about its reliability. The IFP is naturally wondering if these 'cautious' ANC delegates know something about electronic voting, the rest of us don't?" - said KaMagwaza-Msibi.
