The IFP today called for the GCIS to play a role in
promoting multi party democracy in South Africa.
Ms Sue Vos, IFP Communications Spokesperson, was
speaking in the GCIS Budget Vote debate, in which she applauded the
"textbook quality focus on the identification of public information
needs and of government's communication needs."
Vos added that the GCIS should play a vital role in
deepening multi-party democracy.
"If the IFP has a criticism of the GCIS it is
that it has yet to devise a strategy with regard to the promotion of
multi-party democracy in South Africa."
"If we are indeed determined to deepen and
develop democracy in our second decade of democracy, this aspect of the
constitutional rights of South African citizenship is crucial."
