The IFP will exercise its right as one of the key players in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Parliament to hold the provincial executive to account in what its leader in that parliament, Dr Lionel Mtshali MPP, promises to be a "gruesome debate" on safety and security in the legislature on Thursday 22 September 2005.

 The IFP will confront the Minister of Safety and Security, Bheki Cele MPP, on a number of burning issues, most importantly transparency in his department and a lack of inter-party communication in parliament.

 Dr Mtshali is the chairperson of the parliamentary safety and security portfolio committee.
