IFP PARLIAMENTARIANS DEVISE A WINNING PLAN FOR 2007
January 20, 2007
The IFP members of Parliament and of the KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng Provincial Legislatures, led by its leader, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi MP, held a special strategic two day workshop in Cape Town to evaluate the party's performance in parliament since 2004 as well as chart an exciting new direction in the run-up to the 2009 general election.
The workshop was held in a spirit of optimism and determination to provide vigorous and constructive opposition. In particular, fresh impetus was injected into the party's new role as the official opposition in KwaZulu-Natal.
Important issues were tabled by experts and academics, including crime and corruption, poverty, unemployment and HIV/Aids. Plans were also devised to sharpen the performance of its public representatives.
A general strategy was agreed which will define the IFP's role forward until the 2009 election.
Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi said:
"I have been impressed by the determination of our parliamentarians to expose the many failures of the ANC consistently and to propose workable solutions where the ANC fails, especially in respect of crime. The IFP in Parliament has devised an exciting programme for 2007."
