The news of
criminals who have threatened more sabotage of power stations
should shame both the ANC-led government and the involved
criminals, says Inkatha Freedom Party. The party said this in
reaction to news reports that vandals who sabotaged a substation
in the Sea Cow Lake area on Friday left a note threatening more
similar acts until all communities have been provided with
electricity. Speaking for the IFP in eThekwini Mr. Joshua
Mazibuko said:
"Sabotaging
power stations, thus depriving innocent citizens of electricity.
is not only immoral and criminal but also against ubuntu/botho,
and, it must be rejected by all decent communities. As the IFP,
we call on all communities to isolate and expose these criminals
who want to profit from their sufferings.
"However,
these acts of vandalism are equally an indictment against the
ANC government for it has failed for fourteen years to
effectively banish poverty and hunger from our midst our people.
It is this failure by the ANC that has given the criminals a
field day, taking advantage of the squalid conditions in which
our people live.
"More than
anything, this criminal behaviour serves to give more weight to
the ever-growing groundswell calling for the IFP to take over
government and provide leadership and answers to plight of the
majority.
As, the IFP
we vow before all that when we take over, we will be tough on
crime - including sabotage of power stations. - and be tough
also on the causes of crime, such as unemployment and poor
service delivery."
