The IFP has
rejected the suggestions, entirely concocted by the media, that
Dr Lionel Mtshali faces sanctions from his own party for leading
and later retracting an attack against KwaZulu Natal Premier
Sibusiso Ndebele.
"Dr Mtshali
commands the respect and trust of the IFP's National Executive
Committee in his capacity as Leader of the Official Opposition
in KwaZulu Natal. Dr Mtshali is a man of principle and as such
is naturally feared by the ruling party. What more could a
Leader of the Official Opposition desire?" - said IFP
Secretary-General Reverend Musa Zondi.
The IFP has
long valued Dr Mtshali's fearless and tireless work in exposing
instances of maladministration, fraud and corruption in the
provincial government. "The ANC's efforts at undermining Dr
Mtshali's position, often conducted through the news-seeking
media, are in themselves a recognition of his stature and
effectiveness as Leader of the Official Opposition," said
Reverend Zondi.
