The SADESMO
Provincial Executive has welcomed the alleged suspension of the
Vice-Chancellor of the Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT),
Professor AM Ndlovu.
"SADESMO has
long criticised the shortages of lecturers, amounting to 76
vacant posts in July, which have allegedly led to the
Vice-Chancellor's suspension. We feel vindicated by the latest
developments at the University," said SADESMO Provincial
Chairperson Brian Masondo.
In addition,
SADESMO has had reservations about the University management's
alleged failure to comply with the employment equity
legislation.
The
students' organisation has also demanded an explanation from the
Vice-Chancellor regarding the rumours about corrupt dealings on
his farm. "We hope these allegations will be properly
investigated," said Masondo.
