By taking all seats in last week's SRC
elections at the University of Zululand, the IFP-aligned South
African Democratic Student Movement (SADESMO) has pushed its
rival, ANC-affiliated South African Students Congress (SASCO) to
the brink of political extinction.
It is in this spirit that SADESMO will
celebrate its victory and hold a symbolic funeral service for
SASCO on Unizul's campus on Friday 24 October 2008 at 14h00.
"It has become part of the academic and
journalistic folklore to bury the IFP. At the same time, the ANC
has been portrayed as a political party on the rise. Last week's
SRC election at Unizul has debunked both myths," said Deputy IFP
KwaZulu Natal Chairperson Blessed Gwala, who will address
Friday's event and introduce a surprise guest speaker.
The media are invited to attend.
