22rd December 2009
This has been a difficult year. Every South
African has felt the hardship of the global economic depression
on our own pocket. I think many of us are looking to 2010 as a
reprieve from the struggles of 2009, hoping that the World Cup
festivities will reignite our enthusiasm.
My prayer for our nation is that we may find
hope and inspiration that is not rooted in any one event, but is
founded in our shared commitment to grow, develop and prosper,
regardless of the challenges.
As we enter the festive season, I wish all our
people the peace and joy that should accompany Christmas. And I
encourage us to reach out to one another for, this year in
particular, there will be many homes in which hope will only
enter through the helping hand of a neighbour or friend. May
this Christmas truly be a time of giving.
