IFP SAYS NEW COUNCILLOR HAS BEEN ABDUCTED BY ANC

DURBAN : OCTOBER 24, 2002

The IFP National Organiser, Mr Albert Mncwango MP, said today that it has come to the attention of the Party by the IFP structures in Umuziwabantu Municipality (Harding) that a former ANC councillor who has joined the IFP, Ms Cynthia Nontobeko Ntozakhe, has been abducted since yesterday.

Mr Mncwango said:

"Ms Nontobeko Ntozakhe has been detained against her will by the ANC in their local office in Harding. This kind of reprehensible behaviour is uncalled for and can only further damage relations between the two parties."

"We have reported this matter to the police and the Independent Electoral Commission in KwaZulu-Natal."
