The Inkatha Freedom Party has condemned the
brutal murder of the acting principal of the Sithembele Matiso
secondary school, Nomzoxolo Dziba, who was shot dead in her
office in New Crossroads on Monday.
The IFP has added its voice to that of the
Western Cape education department, urging community members to
assist the police in their investigation.
"It is important for South Africans to get
involved in fighting crime by becoming involved at community
level. Areas with active community policing forums have been
shown to have a significant impact on crime reduction. We
therefore urge the community of New Crossroads to come forward
with any information that may assist the police in apprehending
these criminals. Those responsible for this heinous crime much
face the full brunt of the law," said Velaphi Ndlovu, the IFP's
Police Spokesperson.
The IFP said today that despite President Zuma
and new police Commissioner Bheki Cele's tough talk on crime, it
was clear that violent crime was spiralling out of control and
that government is failing miserably in creating safe learning
environments for children.
"In spite of government's resounding
statements, crime continues to ravage our communities -
especially violent crime against women and children. Rhetoric
alone will not solve our crime crisis - it is now high-time for
government to stop paying lip service to creating safer
communities and schools and to put into action its tough talk on
crime," concluded Ndlovu.
The IFP would like to extend its condolences
to the family, friends and colleagues of Dziba. The IFP's
thoughts and prayers are with them at this very difficult time.
