The IFP has condemned in the strongest terms
the murder of its Umlalazi councillor Elliot Maphumulo. Cllr
Maphumulo, aged 50, was gunned down at his home in Gingindlovu
last night.
"This is an act of unspeakable evil and
cowardice. Cllr Maphumulo's murder shows how volatile the
political climate is in KwaZulu Natal in the run-up to the 2009
election," said IFP National Chairperson and KwaZulu Natal
Premier Candidate Cllr Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi.
The IFP is thankful for the attention this
murder is receiving from the SAPS. "We urge anyone with
information pertaining to this tragedy to come forward and
assist the police," said kaMagwaza-Msibi.
The IFP extends its heartfelt condolences to
the family, friends and constituents of Cllr Maphumulo.
