The Inkatha Freedom Party raised its voice in the
National Assembly today on preparing to participate in the Pan African
Parliament.
According to Ms L Mbuyazi MP, IFP speaker on the Pan
African Parliament and AU, the IFP is looking at ways to thoroughly
prepare Government in advance of the Pan African Parliament.
"We need to look at the composition of the
delegation to the PAP and the election of these delegates," she said.
"The draft PAP rules formally establish
regional caucuses as a mechanism. The regional caucuses will help those
like-minded," said Ms Mbuyazi.
She also said that the PAP will play an important
role in providing a forum for the African people to make their views known
through their Parliamentary representative.
"PAP has to be transformed by establishing
appropriate structures, mechanism, rules and functions for PAP to function
effectively and efficiently in Africa's developing democracy."
