IFP PRESIDENT TO ADDRESS 100TH ANIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
OF THE ETHIOPIAN CATHOLIC CHURCH
Durban: 27 January 2004
A rally will be held in the Alexandra Stadium in Johannesburg to celebrate
the 100th Anniversary of the Ethiopian Catholic Church in Zion on Saturday
31 January 2004.
Bishop Matume, the head of the Ethiopian Catholic Church in Zion, in Alex,
is the main force behind the event. He will be joined on the podium by Rev
Sithole, the Dean of the Province of Gauteng, Anglican Rev Makhakemele, United Reformed Church Rev Sam Buti, Father Kane of the Roman Catholic
Church and Bishop Mullings of the Rugby Church of the USA. The main guest speaker at the event will be Minister of Home Affairs and the IFP President,
Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
The rally will begin at 10.00a.m with a procession from the church to the stadium, followed by a morning of speeches, prayers, entertainment and a
sermon, ending by 1400hrs. The theme of HIV/AIDS is expected to be an important one at the event.
