During today's deliberations the IFP National
Council has finalised the party's candidates lists for the
National Assembly and the provincial Legislatures.
"The lists have been the result of an
extensive bottom-up approach which engaged the party branches
and enlisted their views and priorities," said IFP Secretary General Reverend Musa Zondi.
The IFP's candidates lists express the party's
commitment to renewal and rejuvenation by supplementing the
experienced parliamentarians with fresh faces and youth, all of
whom are committed to the leadership, inspiration and vision of
IFP President Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
"The new IFP representation will provide a
formidable team to tackle the developmental challenges faced by
South Africa in the coming years," said Rev Zondi.
In his response to the list process, the IFP
President has remarked that "the party has spoken through its
grassroots" and that he was "pleased with the outcome of the
nomination process".
The full details of the party's candidates
lists will be made public once the IEC completes its own vetting
process.
