"The gagging of the Mail and Guardian
from further exposing how the ANC looted state coffers to
bolster its 2004 election campaign, is the greatest assault on
freedom since 1994," said Thulasizwe Buthelezi, National
Chairperson of the IFP Youth Brigade.
"The fruits of a one-party state are
now visible for all to see. The ANC now controls what
information society gets to read and what information is not
suitable for public consumption. A free and open society is one
where press freedom is sacrosanct.
In South Africa however, it is apparent
that our freedom as citizens is only guaranteed so long as it
serves the political interests of the ANC," concluded
Thulasizwe.
