THE PRINCE MANGOSUTHU BUTHELEZI MASKED BLACK AND WHITE BALL

October 27, 2006

The Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Masked Black and White Ball will be held on Saturday evening at 19hr00 at the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town.

This fundraising ball is in aid of the National South African Workers Welfare (NASAWW). NASSAWW is an NGO which promotes HIV/Aids awareness and education in the transport sector. Prince Buthelezi is the patron.

The 100 invited guests are drawn from civil society, the arts and the media - as well as a healthy sprinkling of politicians!

The idea for this elegant evening of fun and decadence was inspired by Truman Capote's staged never-to-be equalled (until now) Black and White Ball for the then Washington Post editor, Kay Graham.

This was shortly after the publication of his famous novel In Cold Blood in November 1966 at the Manhatten Plaza Hotel.

Our cause is, of course, a serious one - but we subscribe to the Noel Coward view that work can be "more fun than fun!"
