IFP spokesperson on Economic Affairs, Mr Hennie Bekker MP today said:

"The IFP welcomes yesterday's announcement of the decrease in the unemployment rate. The creation of 433 000 jobs over a 12 month period is a clear indication that the IFP's philosophy of economic growth being the main driver for job creation is accurate.

Nevertheless, we are concerned about the impact of further interest rate increases and the effect it will have on economic growth, as well as any future decreases in the unemployment rate."
