"I wish to state categorically that my comments at the meeting hosted by the Diakonia Council of Churches on the 26th May 1999 have been totally misconstrued."

"I did indicate that talking about arms that have been uncovered was pointless. What would be more beneficial to the country would be uncovering arms that we know the ANC brought into the country. The whole country is aware from various pieces of evidence at the TRC and other sources that the ANC has not declared where it has hidden its arms caches. It is the ANC that must unearth its hidden arms and stop posturing as an innocent party."

"At no stage whatsoever did I say that I personally know of any arms caches that are hidden" said Lauretta Ngcobo.
