IFP welcomes upgrade of Western Cape railway

Mr Temba Vezi, the IFP spokesperson on Transport welcomed the announcement of the R1.5bn revamp of Cape Town's railway system.
Mr Vezi said:
"The IFP welcomed the announcement that officials of the City and the provincial government created an inter-governmental strategy for the City's transport system. We applauded the launching of the initiative and recommended that it be implemented as soon as possible to alleviate the problems experienced by the City's commuters."
"The IFP is pleased to see that the authorities have taken our advice and launched the R1.5bn railway revamp initiative this soon. We believe that this project will alleviate the congestion on the City's roads and have untold benefits for commuters, businesses and the City as a whole."
In conclusion Mr Vezi said: "In the long run, the railway system revamp will continue to benefit the City by encouraging more usage by the increasing number of tourists visiting the city, as well as benefit the visitors during the 2010 World Cup."
