The IFP Chief Whip, Koos van der Merwe, will
brief the media on the IFP's reaction to the judgment handed
down by the Supreme Court of Appeal today, against the Minister
of Justice.
The Supreme Court of Appeal today ruled in
favour of the IFP by dismissing the appeal by the Minister of
Justice in relation to the applications for pardon by 384 political prisoners.
Today's victory comes after a five year battle
for the rights of these prisoners which has seen the IFP taking
their case to the Human Rights Commission, the High Court,
Amnesty International and the Supreme Court of Appeal.
