The IFP welcomes the appointment and
dispatch by President Jacob Zuma of a special team of
negotiators, to facilitate the political dialogue in Zimbabwe.
This is a positive move forward in an attempt to unlock the
political impasse in Zimbabwe.
The IFP is, however, concerned about the
lack of details in the SADC agreement.
The vagueness of the unity agreement is
the major and material source of the impediment, as it allows
the parties concerned to place their own interpretations on the
provisions of this vague agreement.
The IFP further hopes that President
Zuma's negotiating team will focus on closing these loopholes,
including persuading the Parliament of Zimbabwe to adopt an
all-inclusive constitution-making process.
