Mr Speaker,

The health care system of our country is in a dismal state and does not promote the health of the millions of South Africa through an accessible, caring and high quality health care system as it is meant to. The Department of Health has failed the many South Africans who rely on it to provide them with quality health care. Drastic changes are needed if there is to be a real improvement to our health care system and an improved service to the many people who are reliant on it.

Once again, I do understand that the new Minister has inherited this system and I do hope that he makes strides in correcting it, but the IFP cannot support this budget vote.
