IFP Statement In Parliament: Sadesmo

Members Statement

National Assembly Cape Town: 23 October 2007

MS PATRICIA LEBENYA MP

Madam Speaker:

The Inkatha Freedom Party would like to congratulate the South African Democratic Students Movement (Sadesmo) for winning yet another student representative council election.

Last week, the Inkatha Freedom Party congratulated Sadesmo for winning all the seats on the student representative council at the University of Zululand.

We also said that the victory might be an indication of things to come and a wake-up call to all those who thought that they would rule "until Jesus comes back."

And the IFP was correct in making this statement!

This week we want to congratulate Sadesmo for winning the student representative council elections securing nine out of the twelve seats at the Mangosuthu Tecknikon.

This fantastic victory once again affirms that Sadesmo is an organisation steeped in a culture of good governance and that they are an organisation that is committed to the battle for proper and stable education at all tertiary institutions.

The IFP wishes Sadesmo well and we know that this definitely wasn't the last victory for them. We know that they will build on these successes and go from strength to strength from here!

I thank you.
