"STUDENTS TODAY"
In his Weekly Online Letter of July 28 2010,
IFP President Prince MG Buthelezi asks a very interesting
question. He asks; "How do you know me?"
On "STUDENTS Today" this week, we answer that
question:
"He is a very friendly, down to earth person
who doesn't judge by status or position. I admire him a. He is
more of a mentor and father figure to me than just a political
leader," said Sandile Nzuza from Umlazi - Durban.
"He is
a man of integrity, who is friendly and a father figure. He is
filled with humility and down to earth. even his smile is
humble," commented Glenn Cele, Durban.
'He is a "visionary, a statesman, leader and a
family man," is the view of Thulani Zwane from Newcastle.
Dear
Mzansi,
The media possesses the immense power to make
or break an individual. The media has the power of influence.
Many have borne the painful brunt of media brutality and they
have been reduced to almost nothingness. The lack of an
effective regulation and monitoring system in the media has
given rise to, at times, reckless, toxic, vengeful,
irresponsible and vilifying reporting. Unfortunately Shenge has had to endure all
this and more.
But guess what?! Shenge has survived it. To
the disappointment of many, Shenge has stood the test of
time. The UDF failed to bring him down. Radio Freedom failed to bring him down. The
ANC is failing to bring him down. Apartheid failed to bring him
down. And no matter how hard they try the 'friends' will also
fail to bring him down.
After all is said and done Comrade Shenge
remains the glue that has kept South Africa's morality intact.
When many were banned and exiled it was Shenge who kept the
hopes of black people alive. He inspired the oppressed to trudge
on tirelessly towards the realisation of freedom and democracy.
I would not be doing justice to the truth nor
to history, if I singled out the media only and turned a blind
eye to those within the IFP who have also joined the bandwagon,
for a free ride to nowhere.
On his 82nd Birthday - Friday, 27 August 2010 -
SADESMO, wishes him and his family well, may the good God of
mercy richly bless and protect him.
We are proud to call and have him our leader,
friend, comrade-in-arms, mentor, champion of the poor, defender
of our democracy, moral voice of reason and companion in the
long journey to the full realisation of our freedom.
Let me conclude by reminding Shenge of the
powerful words of 2 Corinthians 4 v 8-9, where it reads thus:
''We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed but
not driven to despair;
persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down but not
destroyed.'
Long Live Shenge, Long Live!
God Bless You,
God Bless South Africa!
Yours in Education for Liberation!
