IFP PRESS STATEMENT BY:
MR VELAPHI NDLOVU MP
IFP SAFETY AND SECURITY SPOKESPERSON
3rd July 2008
The Inkatha
Freedom Party is shocked to hear that a secret meeting has taken
place between the ANC and the South African Human Rights
Commission, said Mr Velaphi Ndlovu MP, the IFP's Safety and
Security Spokesperson, today.
Mr Ndlovu
commented: "The IFP would like to call on the Human Rights
Commission to explain itself. After setting a deadline for Mr
Malema to apologise or retract his 'kill for Zuma' statement - a
deadline which he missed - they have now had a secret meeting
with Mr Malema and have decided not to take any further legal
steps against him.
"How can
this be? As far as we can establish there was no apology or
retraction on the part of Mr Malema.
"This is
really disheartening and we are amazed at how the South African
Human Rights Commission go about doing their business. How could
they go back on their word when they made such a public noise
about Mr Malema's statements?
In
conclusion Mr Ndlovu said : "How can the public trust the Human
Rights Commission in future when they don't stick to their guns?
We would really like to know from them why they decided to
change their minds on this important issue. The IFP believes
that they owe the South African public an explanation, otherwise
they will be seen as a toothless body that are too afraid to
prosecute the ANC leadership."
