9th December 2009
Noting that the 2009 academic year is ending
on Friday, SADESMO National Spokesperson, Mr. Mkhuleko Hlengwa
wished all pupils and teachers well for the upcoming holidays.
"On behalf of SADESMO I wish all learners and
teachers well during the festive break; may they all enjoy what
surely is a well deserved break, albeit that it will be a
shorter vacation as per usual" said Hlengwa.
"We urge all parents to exercise control and
responsibility over the festive season when driving to and from
holiday destinations, road safety must be maintained at all
times, and children safety must be ensured. The odd weather
patterns witnessed recently demand that extra caution is
exercised on the roads," Hlengwa added. "Moreover SADESMO
expects that the Road Traffic Police should be strict on all
those who break the laws and rules of the road. The high levels
of road accidents are totally unacceptable and transgressors
should not go by unpunished.'
Hlengwa further added: "SADESMO hopes that all
the hard work that has been put into the 2009 academic year will
pay off positively. Due to the 2010 World Cup the holidays are
very short, and so we encourage teachers and learners to get
maximum rest, so that we can hit the ground running next year".
Alcohol and drug use tends to increase during
this time of the year and therefore "SADESMO urges all pupils to
restrain from drinking and from drug use of any sort and young
people should be responsible in their fun and social
activities" Hlengwa said.
In conclusion, Hlengwa said "We wish all South
Africans a blessed festive season, and an abundantly prosperous
2010- we wish all students and pupils an "AYOBA" Holiday. Our
focus now is on the matric results which we hope will be
positive not only in number but also in quality."
SADESMO- Genuine moral leadership is our
vibrant lifetime commitment!
