A Chaotic Start to the School Year
Can Only Cause Trouble for KZN DOE

10 January 2012

THE Inkatha Freedom Party is disappointed to discover from the Mercury newspaper that there are still schools in the Province faced with preventable situations such as shortage of teachers, late arrival of new textbooks and stationery.

“The haphazard management of school equipment and teacher management will cause nothing but problems for schools. It is very disturbing that there are schools that will not have teachers on time and that have not had their new textbooks delivered on time,” said Honourable Lindani Mncwango, Shadow MEC for Education.

The IFP requests the MEC to immediately find solutions to these problems. The IFP also appeals to the Department of Education to find remedial initiatives to overcome those profound and entrenched problems that influence poor performance in provincial schools.

“The provision of school material and teachers should be the department’s herald to quality education reform. Sound Principles need to be applied and both officials and teachers need to be accountable for better results in our schools,” said Mncwango.
