The Inkatha Freedom Party has rejected
reports that the IFP Women's Brigade in eThekwini has called on
Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi to step down from the leadership of
the IFP. The IFP's statement follows a report in today's
Isolezwe to the effect that IFP women who met yesterday at the
Dalton Hostel in eThekwini said they were sick-and-tired of
Prince Buthelezi's leadership.
In a hard-hitting statement she issued
today, Mrs. Ncamsile Nkwanyana, the IFP Women's Brigade
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Chairperson said:
"As the IFP Women's Brigade we totally
reject Mrs. Bongi Gwala's utterances as hog-wash and not
representative of eThekwini IFP Women. Mrs. Gwala fraudulently
claims to be the Chairperson of the IFP Women's Brigade in
eThekwini when she knows that there is no such structure
currently existing in Durban. We know her instead as a former
Provincial Secretary of the IFP Women's Brigade who failed
dismally to the extent that she had to resign from that
position.
"The level of gullibility displayed by
some sections of the media is suspicious to say the least;
because we do not expect the media to just swallow claims from
anyone who presents herself as holding a particular position
without verifying her credentials, especially in the prevalent
circumstances within the IFP.
"It is also instructive that Bongi chose
to use a language which is foreign to the IFP; that of Regions
when there are no regions within our party. Was this a pointer
to something we were not aware of?
"Bongi must forthwith stop using the
name of the IFP when she is spewing her personal venom."
