The IFP in Gauteng has strongly
condemned the increase in violent crime in the West Rand of
Gauteng, which has led to the murder of two prominent IFP
leaders.
IFP leader Induna Mnguni was shot dead
on the 29 July 2010, while IFP councillor Mandla Sibiya was
gunned down inside his house in Wadela on the 5th August 2010.
"We strongly condemn the latest increase
in violence, which has led to the deaths of two prominent,
law-abiding citizens of the West Rand. During the World Cup the
SAPS had increased their crime fighting efforts and manpower,
but now that the eyes of the world are no longer on us,
criminals are again targeting our communities," said Petros
Sithole MP, the IFP Gauteng Provincial Chairperson.
Sithole called on the West Rand
community to assist the police in finding the criminals.
"We call on the SAPS to launch a
thorough investigation into these two murders so that the
culprits are brought to book. Furthermore, the IFP calls on
community to assist the police with their investigation and to
come forward with any relevant information that may assist the
police in their investigation," said Sithole.
In conclusion Sithole said: "Our deepest
sympathy and condolences go to the Mnguni and Sibiya family."
